Assessing Lita’s Status in WWE Following Trish Stratus’ Heel Turn

Published on

WWE’s packed roster means tough choices must be made about who gets airtime. Unfortunately, Lita’s latest run with the company has come to an end.

Lita was set to defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Becky Lynch, but didn’t make it to the match. Trish Stratus filled in, but lost the titles. Then, in a surprising twist, Trish turned on Becky, setting up their next program and leaving Lita injured backstage.

According to a report from PW Insider Elite, Lita is currently off WWE television with no plans for her use in the immediate future. While there is speculation that she could be involved in the Trish Stratus storyline down the line, no official plans have been announced.

“WWE hasn’t utilized Lita since she was ‘attacked’ backstage at Raw. We haven’t heard of any plans for her to be used going forward at this time, but one would think she’ll be involved in the Trish Stratus story down the line,” notes the PW Insider Elite report. “No one has told me this is the plan, but Trish vs. Lita as a nostalgia attraction fits into what Saudi Arabia usually wants for those PPV events, so we will see if they go in that direction as creative plans are locked in.”

While it’s disappointing to see Lita’s latest run come to an end so quickly, fans can at least take comfort in the fact that Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch are poised for more high-profile programs in the coming months.
