WWE’s Decision at SummerSlam: Jey Uso Beating Roman Reigns Was Never on the Table

The Bloodline Storyline Continues: Inside WWE’s Creative Choices for the Reigns vs. Uso Match at SummerSlam

Jey Uso’s rise as part of the Bloodline storyline has been a central focus in WWE for the past few months. However, despite his momentum and a dramatic betrayal by his brother Jimmy Uso at SummerSlam, it appears that WWE never considered Jey Uso defeating Roman Reigns at the event.

During the trial combat match at WWE SummerSlam, Jey Uso came close to defeating Roman Reigns before Jimmy Uso interfered, costing Jey the match. While fans speculated about the potential outcome, Dave Meltzer of McGuire on Wrestling noted that WWE never had plans for Jey Uso to defeat Roman Reigns in the trial combat match. He stated, “I never even heard anyone discuss that as a possibility. I mean obviously they’ve already got whatever it is they’ve got plans going for Roman as champion for months down the line, so Jey wasn’t going to win.”

The decision to keep Reigns as the champion aligns with WWE’s long-term plans, and fans can expect the Bloodline storyline to continue unfolding in the coming weeks.
