AEW President addresses booking backlash, praises fan engagement ahead of Dynasty
Summary
– Tony Khan says fan feedback and viewership data both influence AEW decisions
– He believes AEW’s product is being well received in 2025
– Khan credits fan sentiment, healthy talent, and strong live shows for current momentum
Tony Khan stays tuned in to his online and off audience as AEW heads into Dynasty on April 6.
During the AEW Dynasty media call, Khan addressed recent criticism from fans, especially regarding the Death Riders faction. While backlash has quieted with rising anticipation around Swerve Strickland’s possible title win over Jon Moxley, some fans have expressed that AEW’s direction needed a reset.
Khan said he values all fan input through social media, live events, or Nielsen TV ratings.
“Staying in touch with the fans is important,” Khan said. “There are a lot of fan opinions that are shared and a lot that are polarizing… Viewership data can be very powerful when trying to interpret who is being well received.”
He noted that sometimes, a wrestler who isn’t favored by the audience still generates strong interest, which is also part of AEW’s decision-making process.
Khan also praised AEW’s current run, calling the product stronger than it has been in years. He pointed to live event energy, returning top stars like Kenny Omega and consistently well-received pay-per-views as reasons for AEW’s momentum.
“I think the sentiment around the product going into Dynasty is maybe the best it’s been in many years,” Khan said. “The fans have given us great feedback.”
With AEW Dynasty days away, Khan made it clear that he was listening and believed the company was on a high track.
