The Walking Dead: Dead City is set to take over New York City like never before in celebration of Season 2, premiering May 4 at 9 p.m. on AMC and AMC+. In one of the franchise’s biggest promotional events, walkers will descend on the city alongside cast photo ops, exclusive giveaways, and fan activations.
The kickoff begins Sunday, April 27, at the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon with walkers at the starting line and a post-run activation in Prospect Park. AMC will host giveaways and interactive experiences for fans.
Star and executive producer Lauren Cohan shared her excitement with the New York Post, calling it “one of the biggest and most interactive experiences The Walking Dead has ever done,” perfect to launch the new season.
Dead City continues the story of Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan. Gaius Charles, Dascha Polanco, Kim Coates, and chief content officer Scott M. Gimple are joining them at fan pop-ups.
Additional highlights include an exceptional Rooftop Films advance screening and cast Q&A on Monday, April 28, at Industry City in Brooklyn. On Tuesday, April 29, walkers will storm Penn Station, PopUpBagels on 7th Avenue, Radio City Music Hall, the Empire State Building, and the AMC Networks Office, distributing branded New York Post editions and merchandise.
The day caps off at Citi Field during “Dead City Night,” where Morgan and Cohan will throw out the first pitch before the Mets face the Arizona Diamondbacks. Mets players will even use a replica of Negan’s infamous bat, Lucille, during batting practice.
AMC’s Kim Granito told The Post, “New York City is the perfect backdrop for delivering unique ‘only in NY’ moments for Dead City’s massive fandom,” promising fans an unforgettable, bite-sized takeover.
