Respawn hit hardest as EA cuts 300–400 jobs and cancels two new games
Summary
– EA confirms 300–400 layoffs, including 100 from Respawn Entertainment
– Titanfall extraction shooter among two early-stage games cancelled
– EA cites focus on long-term strategy and reallocation of resources
Electronic Arts has confirmed a major wave of layoffs affecting several studios, with Respawn Entertainment suffering the most significant impact. Reports estimate 300 to 400 employees have lost their jobs, including approximately 100 from Respawn.
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier revealed that one of the cancelled projects was a new Titanfall game—an early-in-development extraction shooter. The other game also remained in incubation and has not been publicly named.
EA stated the changes are part of a long-term strategic shift to better allocate resources and position itself for growth. Respawn also acknowledged the cuts, thanking those affected for their contributions, promising internal support, and potential reassignments.
