WWE Legend Mick Foley Discusses the Hits and Misses of the Iconic Parody on His Podcast, “FOLEY is POD”

In a recent episode of his podcast, “FOLEY is POD,” WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley took a trip down memory lane to discuss the memorable DX parody of The Nation Of Domination. This parody went head-to-head with Goldberg’s victory over Hulk Hogan in the Georgia Dome on Nitro, marking a hot time in professional wrestling.

Foley shared his thoughts on the parody, highlighting the talents of Jason Sensation, who impersonated Owen Hart. “Jason could never get the green card, and he’s worked with me on at least a couple dozen of my events in Canada because he just does such a spot-on job of so many of the guys,” Foley said.

He also praised Sensation’s ability to capture Owen’s voice, even if he didn’t look like him, and recalled some of the humorous lines from the parody.

However, Foley acknowledged that some aspects of the parody, such as the use of blackface, have not aged well. “Now when you look at the guys in blackface, three of them, you’re like, ‘Oh, I don’t think we’re supposed to do that anymore.’ But it wasn’t meant [to offend]. It was meant to be entertaining; it achieved its goal; it was extremely entertaining. I’m just, you know, the black face doesn’t age well in today’s era,” he explained.

Foley also commended Triple H’s performance in the parody, particularly his impersonation of The Rock. He described the segment as “really memorable” and emphasized that “nobody does the parody like professional wrestling does.”

The discussion provides an insightful look into a classic moment in wrestling history, offering a blend of nostalgia, humor, and reflection on how the industry has evolved.
