Former WWE Star Odyssey Jones Files Defamation Lawsuit Over WWE Release

Omari Palmer alleges false claims led to his termination from WWE

Summary

– Omari Palmer, formerly known as Odyssey Jones, is suing his former partner for defamation

– Palmer claims false allegations of abuse led to his WWE release in 2024

– His former partner denies the accusations and plans to file counterclaims

Omari Palmer, known to WWE fans as Odyssey Jones, has filed a defamation lawsuit against his former partner, Meileth Nunez, alleging that she made false statements that resulted in his WWE termination last year. Palmer is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 in the case filed on January 20 in Orange County, Florida.

Palmer claims that Nunez falsely accused him of physical abuse, leading to an internal investigation by WWE’s parent company, TKO Group Holdings. The lawsuit alleges that Nunez “maliciously communicated” these claims to TKO and various news outlets, knowing they were false. Because Palmer may be considered a public figure, proving actual malice will be a key element of the case.

The legal battle stems from a police report Nunez filed in May 2024, alleging battery by Palmer. Police documented visible bruises on her shoulders and legs, which she claimed were caused by the former WWE star. Palmer has denied all allegations and, after his WWE release, filed for a protection order against Nunez in September 2024, claiming she had been physically violent toward him and had stalked him. However, a report from POST Wrestling indicated that the Maitland Police Department had no record of Palmer filing a stalking complaint.

Nunez formally responded to the lawsuit on February 24, calling Palmer’s claims “retaliatory” and announcing her intent to file counterclaims for harassment. She also referenced investigative findings from TKO, which she said found probable cause for Palmer’s termination. Neither WWE nor TKO Group Holdings have commented on the lawsuit.

Palmer signed with WWE in 2019, wrestling in “NXT” before moving to “Raw” during the 2023 WWE Draft. He was released in August 2024, shortly after aligning with The New Day.
