The two-time WWE Hall of Famer is reportedly offering guidance on areas for improvement and advising performers on which aspects of their characters they should maintain. This mentorship role leverages Waltman’s decades of experience across multiple major wrestling promotions.
WWE launched its ID (Identify, Develop) program last October to discover and nurture independent wrestling talent. The program works with five wrestling schools across the United States, including Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory in Atlanta and Rikishi’s Knokx Pro Academy in Los Angeles.
In February, WWE expanded the program by introducing official WWE ID matches, which are promoted weekly on social media. The company also organizes a WWE ID Championship Tournament in Las Vegas during WrestleMania weekend, featuring matches across various independent promotions.
Meltzer’s report did not specify how long Waltman has been working in this capacity, and the wrestling veteran has kept quiet about his new role on his personal social media accounts. Waltman’s involvement adds significant credibility to the program, given his status as a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, inducted as a member of D-Generation X in 2019 and as part of the New World Order in 2020.
Currently signed to a WWE Legends contract, Waltman brings his wealth of knowledge from a career that spanned WWE, WCW, and various independent promotions to this new generation of wrestling hopefuls.
