Jerry Lawler's Recovery from Stroke Falls Short of Expectations

Jerry “The King” Lawler, a WWE Hall of Famer, experienced a medical emergency on Monday and underwent surgery. He is currently recovering in a hospital in Florida.

Florida’s Action News 5 first reported that Jerry Lawler, 73, had suffered a stroke in his home in Fort Myers. However, Dave Meltzer reported later that it was not a stroke but a blood blockage on the right side of Lawler’s brain.

Dave Meltzer reported that Jerry Lawler was discovered outside his home, facedown, and was promptly taken to the hospital.

Currently, no updates have been provided on Jerry Lawler’s health. According to Dave Meltzer, Lawler woke up after surgery and attempted to speak but could not, and he had no sensation on the right side of his body.

Jerry Lawler has a history of heart problems, including a stroke in 2018. He also suffered a heart attack while commentating during an episode of WWE Raw in 2012, which was nearly fatal. Before the attack, he had participated in a tag team match.

Despite his previous health problems, Jerry Lawler remained active in the ring and performed in independent shows. His most recent wrestling match took place in January. In 2022, he participated in ten matches in the southeastern United States.
