On a recent episode of ROH TV, Eddie Kingston challenged Ring of Honor World Champion Claudio Castagnoli to a match. Although Kingston had previously promised not to fight Castagnoli in AEW, he stated that this was not AEW and issued the challenge after Castagnoli’s World title defense against AR Fox. Castagnoli did not respond to the challenge, but their match at Supercard of Honor on March 31 will be the World title program.
Kingston’s challenge came after an angle on AEW’s Twitter account the previous day where he “quit” the company. Kingston appeared on both days of ROH’s television tapings in Orlando over the weekend despite this.
Kingston’s last match on AEW television was on the January 13 episode of Rampage, where he teamed with Ortiz against Malakai Black and Brody King. His previous televised singles match was on the Full Gear Zero Hour pre-show on November 19, 2022, and his last singles match on Dynamite was on November 9, 2022, where he lost a match in the AEW World title eliminator tournament to Ethan Page.
