Eric Young Reveals His Unwilling Departure from Impact Wrestling and Subsequent Return After a Short Stint with WWE

In a recent interview on Busted Open Radio, Eric Young, a seasoned professional wrestler, revealed his reluctance to leave Impact Wrestling in December 2022. Young was written off Impact Wrestling television in a dramatic storyline involving Cody Deaner. Behind the scenes, Young was preparing for a return to WWE, a move he didn’t initially desire.

Young shared that Impact Wrestling President Scott D’Amore had strongly encouraged him to accept WWE’s offer. D’Amore, known for his blunt honesty, even threatened to punch Young if he didn’t agree to the move. Despite his initial resistance, Young eventually accepted the opportunity and officially re-signed with WWE.

However, complications arose with the return of Vince McMahon to WWE, leading Young to face personal, professional, and moral dilemmas. After requesting his release from WWE, which was granted in April, Young’s 90-day non-compete clause expired, allowing him to resume wrestling bookings.

This paved the way for Young’s return to Impact Wrestling at their Slammiversary pay-per-view. Young expressed his happiness and pride to be part of Impact Wrestling, describing it as a special and tight-knit group.
